Why injury? It's this simple: more children die from injuries every year than from the next three leading causes of death combined. Nobody knows this because no one is talking about it. In the U.S., one child dies every hour from an injury that could have been prevented. Around the world, a child dies every 30 seconds as the result of an injury. You don’t need to have a child to know that we can do better.

Next Steps

End Injury

We launched End Injury when we did because we wanted to start saving lives. We have some grand visions of what End Injury can be, but we are a work in progress. Here is some of what we have planned.

Taking Action

  • We want this site to offer inspiration for people to take action. Right now, we are asking people to join the site and start spreading the word about the magnitude of the injury problem. Very soon, we will start posting examples of actions you can take in your own life. Some will take a few minutes in your home; others may be long-running projects in your community. You will be able to choose the level of action that you are ready to complete. Every action, no matter how big or small, will help to End Injury.

Volunteering

  • We’ll help you find local and national organizations that have volunteer opportunities for you.

Sharing Success Stories

  • We will share stories of people who have taken action to End Injury. Some stories will highlight small, simple steps, and others will feature groups who have come together in their communities to End Injury.

Injury and “Near Miss” Stories

  • Injury survivors and families who have had close calls or near misses have told us that they want to share their stories so that other families can learn from them.

Inspired by You

  • Share your stories, your ideas, actions you have taken, and things you’d like to see on the site. By creating a community and sharing our actions, we can have a larger impact.
